What is a fuseboard upgrade?
A fuseboard upgrade replaces the consumer unit that distributes electricity to your circuits. We check the existing installation and select circuit protection to suit it before fitting a replacement.
What can a replacement improve?

Does your fuseboard need replacing?
Age alone doesn't decide this. Older fuses, a plastic enclosure or missing RCD protection call for assessment rather than an automatic replacement.
- Repeated tripping: this could come from a faulty appliance, a wiring fault or an overload. We investigate the cause before recommending work.
- Plans for extra sockets or circuits: we check what your installation can support.
- An EICR recommendation: we explain the findings and the practical options.
Burning smells, scorch marks or unusual heat need urgent attention. If it is safe to do so, switch off the supply and contact an electrician; don't remove the consumer unit cover.

Testing, certificates and Building Regulations
The replacement work is inspected and tested, and you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC). An EICR is a separate report on the condition of the existing installation; we discuss any assessment needed before the change.
Domestic consumer unit replacement in England is notifiable work under Part P. The appropriate Building Regulations notification is separate from the EIC.
We design, install and verify replacement work to the applicable requirements of BS 7671, the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. We'll explain the circuit protection and any earthing, bonding or remedial work required before agreeing the job.
